What people research this for
Some women lose their interest in sex and find it distressing. They want to feel desire again. Bremelanotide, also known as PT-141, has been through large trials and has FDA approval for one specific group of women.
Researched for
- Low sexual desire in women
- Desire before menopause
What the studies say so far
The RECONNECT trials were late-stage studies of bremelanotide in women who had not reached menopause and whose low desire developed over time. Published papers report how it performed in different subgroups and what side effects came up. It is available by prescription only, and the approval covers that group and no one else.
